We are working on life science in science this quarter and biome studies are helping us to understand interactions between biotic and abiotic components. These posters were created in small groups after researching our biomes using the website

Not sure what is so scary, but these turned out to be pretty great. We used oil pastels and watercolors with straws to create these colorful masterpieces. They went down today to make room for new artwork, so I wanted to share them with all who hadn't had a chance to see them yet!

"It looks like all my dreams"

This book has been in my life since my own elementary school days and I love using it to inspire an art project. Today, our O & P student, Miss Diana, read the book and started the project for the kids to create a house hat shows all their dreams. From pizza to turtles, basketballs to submarines, our dreams are very different and we are too.

Loving Our Reading Books

We got a new reading and language curriculum this year and we have been loving the stories and everything we have learned so far. This week we are reading about force, motion, and Newton's laws through reading a graphic novel (narrative nonfiction).
This group was learning to play a new dice vocabulary/dictionary game. :) See how much fun they were having?

Having some meaningful discussions about the book and how it relates to science.

Science Flip Book Fun

Finishing up our flip books from the biomes presentations. Adding artistic flair to our notes makes everything more interesting.

In our Nebraska Studies Weekly this week we are reading about wind energy from wind turbines. Watching one get constructed over the course of two weeks through time-lapse photography. Pretty cool stuff. Check it out here:
