Agate Fossil Beds Field Trip

Our First Field Trip

On Wednesday we got to take a long bus ride to Agate Fossil Beds National Monument. We had to split our group into two groups, so we got to work with both Ranger Lil and Ranger Anne. They did an awesome job of telling us about the park and all of the history we could find there. We got to touch artifacts used by Native Americans in the past, such as a bison's bladder that was used as a water bottle and a bison's hide. There was so much to see! We also got to go for a hike to see the "Spiral Staircases" that were created by Paleocasters of long ago. It was a fun day and we were glad to have the experience of finding something so cool so close to our homes in Chadron.
